⏱ Calculated Deadlines
Note: The above deadlines have been calculated based on a default, non-exceptional scenario under the Rules of Court 2021. This tool does not account for exceptions or special provisions that may separately be provided for under the Rules of Court 2021. You should verify all deadlines against the applicable rules and any court orders or directions in force.
How deadlines are calculated (O 3, ROC 2021)
- Trigger day excluded (O 3 r 3(3)): The period begins on the day after the triggering event. The trigger date itself is not counted.
- Periods of 6 days or fewer (O 3 r 3(6)): Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays are excluded from the count (effectively working days). "Non-court day" means a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday.
- Periods over 6 days: All calendar days count; months and weeks are calendar months/weeks.
- Clear days rule (O 3 r 3(5)): Where a rule requires an act to be done a specified number of clear days before or after a date, at least that number of days must intervene between the day on which the act is done and that date (i.e. both the act day and the specified date are excluded from the count).
- Last-day rule (O 3 r 3(7)): If the final day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday, the deadline extends to the next working day. Adjusted deadlines are marked ⚠.
- Cutoff deadlines (shown in brown): Some deadlines run backwards from a future date (e.g. last day to amend before trial). If the cutoff falls on a non-court day, the preceding working day is shown.
